Oak and Wool
A sofa built from oak dowels and mortise-and-tenon joints, dressed in a single piece of black wool felt.
The frame of NL96 is joined with extended mortise-and-tenon joints — a connection that creates visible lightness around the joints while suggesting a flat-pack system where the parts could be disassembled and reassembled. On top of the frame lies a one-piece shell in black wool felt, giving the sofa a soft, tactile surface. An alternative could be a tightly stretched canvas, referencing Kaare Klint's Safari Chair and Ole Gjerløv-Knudsen's horse-stool furniture — a conversation with Danish furniture tradition conducted through construction rather than quotation.
