Nicolai Larsen is a Danish architect and designer with a background in craftsmanship and construction. Trained as a carpenter and educated at the Royal Danish Academy, his work combines material understanding, spatial reasoning and production awareness within a rational design practice.

 

The studio develops furniture, lighting and objects for contemporary production and long-term use. Each project is shaped through an iterative process of sketches, digital modelling, prototypes and physical testing, ensuring that aesthetic intention and manufacturing feasibility evolve together from the earliest stages.

 

The work is grounded in the relationship between material, structure and human interaction. How an object stands, is assembled, held or used becomes central to the design process. Form is not applied as styling, but emerges from construction, proportion and function. By reducing the unnecessary and clarifying essential elements, the result is objects that feel intuitive, coherent and durable in both use and production.

 

From the outset, projects are developed with consideration for tooling, assembly, disassembly, tolerances, repairability and production methods. Material strategies are selected to support longevity and relevance, while constructive logic is carefully refined to simplify manufacturing rather than complicate it. The ambition is not to create novelty, but objects with lasting relevance — products that endure because they make sense.

 

Collaboration is approached with clarity, realism and respect for the identity of the brand or manufacturer. Rather than imposing a signature, the process focuses on strengthening existing values through well-resolved design, material honesty and production-conscious development. The aim is to create products that generate confidence both emotionally and commercially, and that remain relevant over time.
