NL173 is a French press made in steel. The cylindrical body, handle and plunger mechanism are resolved as a coherent whole, with each detail justified by function. The object is made to be used daily and to remain relevant over time.
A French press consists of many parts, each solving a specific task — filter, plunger, vessel, handle. NL173 is an investigation of how these parts can be clearly articulated in relation to each other, so the user understands the mechanics simply by looking at the object.
