NL143

Chair

Oak

NL143 is a low lounge chair developed around bent plywood. The project explores the tension between industrial production and craft understanding — the load-bearing elements reduced to few components, while the bent surfaces provide both structure, comfort and character. An early exploration of repetition, precision and material logic that became central themes across the broader body of work.

NL143 consists of four carefully designed components, held together by six visible screws, and can be fully disassembled again. It is a construction that makes repair and replacement of individual parts possible, rather than discarding the entire chair if one part fails. Based on the N105 chair, it shows how an earlier idea can be reinterpreted with a focus on demountability and longevity.
