NL109 is a wardrobe object developed around the inherent strength of steel tube and the possibility of creating stable constructions with a minimum of material. The design reduces the object to its structural essentials, resulting in a form that is almost graphic in character — balanced between furniture and architecture. The construction is not concealed but made an active part of the product's identity.
NL109 combines coat rail, shelf and wardrobe in one system built from simple bent tubes and circular wall fittings. Reducing to these two basic elements gives the system a clear, repeated rhythm on the wall, and the powder-coated finish on steel and aluminium ensures durability in a zone daily exposed to jackets, bags and wet shoe soles. Early prototypes in copper tube and 3D-printed fittings show how the form was refined step by step towards the final, reduced solution.
